With the impending release of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD, Game Informer declared that "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 stands as the best game in the series."

What you may not know is that Gearbox Software had a hand in the development of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and did the entirety of the PC version -- an accomplishment commemorated in this behind-the-scenes video.

"The whole video is a parody of the Jackass stuff," Gearbox President and CEO Randy Pitchford said when asked about the video. "It was shot by Patrick Deupree and I, then I edited it myself. The reason the Gearbox Software logo is on screen most of the time is that Activision legal was worried since my board in those shots was an old school Powell Peralta deck."

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 included several enhancements on PC, including online support for up to eight players, which you can read more about here and here.

Another element exclusive to the PC version of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 PC was the addition of the guy from Doom as a playable skater.

"We just thought it would be cool, so I called up id's Todd Hollenshead and told him what we wanted to do," Pitchford explains. "He just gave us permission to do it."

Concludes Pitchford: "Special thanks to the Neversoft guys for inviting us to be a part of the game. They kicked some serious ass with the series."
